Lead Data Scientist - MCCSS

2024 - Present

Toronto, Ontario

  • Led and mentored a team of 4 to deliver a strategic program pivot of the Ministry's audit function within 5 months, tripling delivery speed and enhancing audit capabilities.
  • Drove a major process transformation by migrating workflows from on-premises to cloud platforms, leveraging Python, PySpark, and Databricks to improve scalability, efficiency, and analytical depth.
  • Onboarded and trained 9 staff over the fiscal year, building strong development practices, data governance, and a collaborative team culture.
  • Delivered $37M in financial benefits in a single loss-prevention program cycle, achieving a 55% success rate across ~4,100 cases reviewed.
  • Built tools that cut report preparation from one week to one day, halved data cleaning time, and automated key performance metrics for rapid insights.

Data Scientist - MCCSS

2021 - 2024

  • Led a loss-prevention effort in social assistance using data science, identifying networks of beneficiaries, with estimated savings of $14M in 2021-2022.
  • Led a comprehensive analysis in child support payments – from data selection, pipeline development, to analytical approaches applied – of payment trends across six fiscal years, utilizing a vast dataset of millions of rows.
  • Assessed and improved an existing predictive model targeting high-risk child-support payors, offering key enhancement suggestions to boost performance and precision.

Senior Labour Relations Research Analyst - TBS

2020 - 2021

Toronto, Ontario

  • Managed the migration and development of a comprehensive longitudinal workforce database, consolidating 10 years of monthly data from 120 MS Access databases into a single SQL database.
  • Offered research and analytical support during labour negotiations, conducting Monte-Carlo simulations to assess payroll impact of new contracts.
  • Conducted training sessions on R, SQL, and Git to enhance the team's analytical proficiency.
